The International Book Fair of Buenos Aires 2014 is getting ready for a great celebration, since in 2014, the Book Fair of Buenos Aires will celebrate its 40th anniversary. From April, 24th to May, 12th everyone is invited to participate in the 40th International Book Fair that will take place in the “Predio La Rural”, Palermo in Buenos Aires.
The person in charge of opening the Book Fair of Buenos Aires in 2014 is the great Quino. Quino, the creator of Mafalda, usually goes to the International Book Fair of Buenos Aires, since he believes it is “a crucial cultural moment in Argentina’s life”. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that this year not only does the International Book Fair of Buenos Aires celebrate its 40th anniversary, but Quino also celebrates Mafalda’s 50th anniversary.
Each year, the International Book Fair of Buenos Aires has a guest city of Honour. In 2014, the city of Honour during the International Book Fair is Sao Pablo.
As every year, all those who want to visit the Book Fair of Buenos Aires, will be able to participate of the reader’s prize, the book signings, conversations and interviews with writers, micro-fiction days, courses, reading marathons, the International Festival on Poetry, an exposition where you may learn about the different provinces of Argentina, and many other activities for both kids and adults that you cannot miss.
The International Book Fair of Buenos Aires in La Rural will be open from Monday to Friday from 2.00pm to 10.00pm and on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 1.00pm to 10.00pm. There are some benefits and discounts for some visitors:
– Kids under 12 (accompanied by an adult), people with disabilities and school groups (with prior reservations made) will enter the Book Fair free of charge.
– Retired people and pensioners, as well as teachers and students on the area will enter for free from Monday to Friday (except on Holidays). They will have to submit the necessary documentation.
As every year, during the International Book Fair 2014, Buenos Aires will be surrounded by culture, fun, magic worlds and plenty of books in order to celebrate the most wonderful Book Fair in Argentina and one of the greatest Book Fairs in the world.
