History of Argentina
In Argentina, football is said to be “a passion of the crowds”. The Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA, Argentine Football Association) is the oldest football association in South America and the eighth in the world.

During its 113 years of existence, the Selección Argentina (Argentine football team) –also known as the Albicelestes (white and light-blue) – won the FIFA World Cup in 1978 and 1986, the gold medal in 2004 and the silver medal in 1928 and 1996 in the Olympic Games, and the South American Cup fourteen times, apart from hundreds of international cups. Currently, many of the most powerful clubs in the world have one or a couple of Argentine players in their teams.

Argentina is a true football power that has always occupied the first positions in FIFA World Rankings.
